nonfiction,即非小说类的文章要随着孩子年纪的增长逐渐扩大在阅读中的比重。因为，最初的阅读，是要学会阅读，之后的阅读，是要从阅读中学习。而获取信息的文章，大都是nonfiction.

下面我们以这篇文章为例

首先，要给孩子们解释，这篇文章的genre,即文章的类型，是nonfiction. 什么是nonfiction文章？告诉孩子们需要符合三个条件，即

1. tells about real people , places , or things.

讲述的是真实的人，地方，和事物。

2. tells about real events.

讲述的是真实的事情。

3. gives information and facts.

提供的是信息和事实。

其次 ，让孩子们带着问题去阅读，作者写这篇文章的目的是什么，Why did the author write Soccer?

文章的题目，即，title，是Soccer，足球的意思。作者的目的，Sometimes authors try to make readers laugh, sometimes the author's purpose is to give readers information. 让孩子们在读文本信息的时候，注意体会author's purpose。

The text structure the author is using is description. The author has started out by describing what the kids do when they are playing soccer. I found out that the players run and kick.

作者运用的文本结构是描述。作者首先描述了孩子们踢足球时的行为。我们发现球员们跑动并踢球。

这一页介绍了，足球的简单规则，在比赛中，我们不能用手碰球。

我们可以这样问孩子：

What part of your body are you not supposed to use?

然后引导孩子思考，回答。

这一页又描述了几种球场上的运动方式，除了run，kick，还可以pass，

Throughout this selection the author descibes how to play soccer.

通过这篇文章，作者描述了如何玩足球。

We learned about soccer from the author’s descriptions. We learned that you play by running，kicking, and passing the ball. There are things you can and cannot do. The goal of the game is to get the ball down the field and score.

最后，我们根据文章提供的信息线索，完成Author’s Purpose Chart.
